Plastics have become an integral part of our everyday lives. Thanks to their low specific weight and their great versatility and resilience, plastics support us in countless areas of application. But what happens to plastics after they have been used? This question is more topical than ever and optimum solutions are being sought worldwide.

For common plastics such as PET, PE, PP, PS, ABS and PC, established and demonstrably successful recycling processes are already in place. They enable high-quality recovery of the plastic and thus protect the environment and conserve resources.

CHT Recycling Solutions has been growing successfully since 2008 on the basis of our flexible portfolio and our individual application technology advice. The same applies to our satisfied customers in the recycling industry.

CHT recycling aids help to ensure that the proportion of recyclable plastics continues to increase. They not only improve the quality of the recyclate, but also optimize processes and enable smooth machine operation.

PET recycling market situation

The development of plastic recycling shows what is already being achieved today, but also what still lies ahead. It is estimated that around 413.8 Mt of plastic have been produced worldwide in 2023, of which 36.5 Mt of plastic was made from recycled materials (mechanical and chemical). The non-recycled and partly carelessly disposed of in the environment represents a permanent environmental burden.

The plastics most frequently recycled are PET and PVC as well as polyolefins such as PP and PE. PET bottles, for example, are very easy to recycle and serve as a raw material for new products in a wide range of applications such as new bottles, PET trays, films and fiber materials.
