Position of the CHT Group on the future distribution of fluorocarbon products in the textile sector

Currently the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) is working on a broad ban for the use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which will (probably) come into force in 2025. This restriction will possibly define timelimited exemptions.

Regarding the PFAS issue, the CHT Group has been conducting research and development for more than 10 years, at great expense, in order to gradually reduce the use of PFAS chemicals and to replace them if the protective effect is also possible with other substances that are less harmful to the environment.

In 2017, the CHT Group voluntarily declared the abandonment of manufacturing PFAS-containing products for home and apparel textiles. The success of our research and development made this possible. Since 2017, CHT Group has offered PFAS-based products only for narrowly defined segments.

Beyond the upcoming REACH restriction for PFAS, the CHT Group will continue to offer C6 fluorocarbon products in the defined segments, provided that the application area complies with the specifications for use of the European chemicals policy. Beside this, CHT will continue to develop and offer you PFAS-free solutions if technically possible.
