ADHERO textile adhesives – composites for highest technical demands

Bonding is the universal technology for linking nearly any material. Classic joining methods such as welding in metal construction or sewing in the textile field are material-related and allow only rarely the combination of materials, whereas the bonding technology facilitates nearly any combination of materials, in general without affecting the mechanical properties or look. Bonding as joining technology therefore pioneers light composites which make our future more sustainable due to the energy efficiency and resource protection. At present, textile fibres and surfaces are already indispensable in many technical composite materials and will be gaining importance.

The CHT Group offers various adhesive types under the brand ADHERO ranging from permanently adhering sticky self-adhesive compounds over heat-activated systems up to reactive two component adhesives too meet the demands on an optimal material combination.

It’s the right adhesive that leads to success

After having been applied as coating the self-adhesive compounds of the ADHERO PSA series are pressure-sensitive and can be easily bonded with further adherends. Self-adhesive compounds are applied in versatile textile fields ranging from e.g. slightly adhering decorative and advertising articles which can be removed afterwards without leaving residues up to permanently bonded textiles in industrial plant construction where they must resist numerous external influences in their daily use.

The heat-activated adhesives of the ADHERO TAA series offer distinct textile specific adhesive properties and facilitate a quick, efficient bonding. Dispersion adhesives are mostly applied as paste or foam on the textile web to be bonded. The resulting dried adhesive coating can already be reactivated at low temperatures clearly below 100 °C, so that the adherends can be gently bonded with slight pressure. In combination with suitable crosslinking agents permanent heat-stable bondings can be produced.

Interfacial function

The interface between two materials is of utmost importance in case of firmly bonded adherends. At this surface between adhesive and substrate the decisive physical and chemical bonding processes are effected which later mainly characterise the bond strength.

For ensuring an optimal interaction of bonded adherends CHT offers sustainable, water-borne primers / adhesion promoters under the brand name ADHERO PRIME. These products are applied as prime coating or dip impregnation on textiles and are then dried and cured there. In a further step the desired composite is produced either by bonding the first material with the further material or by directly coating this second material.

Due to their distinct elasticity and the wide adhesion range reactive primer systems are often excellently suited for wet laminating of absorbent substrates.

For special moments

In special cases where extremely high demands are made on the heat stability, low temperature flexibility, stability to chemical substances and to ageing silicone adhesives are often first choice.

Based on solvent-free, reactive two component silicones TUBCOSIL products offer specifically adjusted processing and adhesion properties for making your composite optimal for textile bonding.
